  • CALA Annual Best Book Award

    The CALA Annual Best Book Award is to promote awareness of the best books of Chinese topics or literature written by authors of Chinese descent, in English or Chinese language, that are originally published in North America.

     

  • CALA Scholarships

    To encourage professional and leadership development in Chinese American librarianship, CALA offers several scholarships each year to students and library school faculty.

  • The CALA Jing Liao Annual Award for the Best Research

    The pursuit of excellence in research and service was what defined the career of Jing Liao (1954-2011), a long-time CALA member and a devoted and accomplished librarian at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The establishment of this memorial fund is to honor the memory of Jing Liao by encouraging CALA members to strive for excellence in research in all media.

  • The CALA Conference Travel Grant

    The CALA conference travel grant supports CALA members attending ALA Annual Conference.

  • CALA Outstanding Library Leadership Award

    To honor Dr. Margaret Chang Fung’s distinguished library career as a dedicated library director, educator, innovator, advocator, scholar, government official, and, above all, an exemplary leader, the Fung’s family established the Dr. Margaret Chang Fung Memorial Endowment Fund with $22,000, and members of the Chinese American Librarians Association (CALA) and friends of Dr. Fung have contributed to the Fund. CALA created the Outstanding Library Leadership Award in Memory of Dr. Margaret Chang Fung in 2012 and has given this Award annually since 2013.

  • CALA Distinguished Service Award

    The CALA Distinguished Service Award is given annually to individuals who consistently demonstrate outstanding leadership and achievement in library and information services at the national and/or international level. Distinguished contributions and services to the advancement of Chinese- American librarianship will receive special consideration from the CALA Awards Committee. This Award is a permanent and highest recognition given by the Association.
